Flat cloth nappies on a 2.2 kilo baby is possible.

Using flat cloth nappies is not Vicki's first language. She shows us that if you have a good fold, you can not go wrong.

Hi, I'm Vicki from Bubblebubs and today I'm with baby Oliver. Oliver is three weeks old and about two point two kilos, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to try to put a muslin flat on Oliver.

Flats are really versatile because you can fold them all different ways. I can fold them one way, whether that fits a preemie, I don't know. We do these all in one take and we're about to find out.

They dry super fast, because they're nice and thin and as I said, because you can fold them into all different shapes and sizes they're perfect if you're struggling to get especially one size nappies on your bum.

So I'm going to try my one and only fold that I know. Okay, which is origami fold. I think that's what it's called. Now, looking at this, I think we've got way too much fabric. And, as I said, this is where the versatility of a flat comes in, so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to start to fold that down a little there. And we've got all the absorbency up in the middle. Not that you need it because you've already wet your pants. And so we can just wrap the wings around like this.

If you want to you can actually ... this creates a little poo fence here just by twisting the nappy as we go around, which if we look at that compared to the other side gives a much better fit around the legs as well. And there we go. Oh my gosh.

And just pop it on with a snappy. And you know what? I've got a little of fabric there which I can just tuck in. That's what I'm saying. Flats are so versatile, even the rookies like me who can't put a flat on to save my life.

I've actually got a reasonable looking nappy there. You know, a little of tucking here and there and I'm sure a little of practise if if I didn't have to give him back, I could probably get a decent [inaudible 00:02:22].

As you can see, you know it actually turned out quite a trim little nappy, so don't discount using flats on your smaller bums if you're struggling to get a decent fit.
